Merry Christmas

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  I'm taking a wee break now ~ hoping to get a little stitching done just for our home.  I still enjoy stitching other designers' things very much. I will be back in the early-to-middle part of January.  My Etsy shop is still open, and I will answer my emails, so you can get in touch with me if you like.  I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas break. Thank you for your encouragement and support!

Doodle's Christmas Wreath

I forgot to show you Doodle's Christmas wreath.  I have made one using the "Doodle All the Way" chart, and another wreath using the "Let It Snowball" chart, a photo of which I shared in an earlier post.  They look so cute hanging on the doors in our home.

I'm always looking for interesting ways to finish off a cross stitch design or project.  I have plenty of needlework items in frames, but we only have so much wall space!  I've used pillows, wreaths, the fronts of blank books or journals, handmade buntings, cards, Christmas tree ornaments, and I don't know what all.

I'd love to hear the different ways you all display your work once it is finished.  Please feel free to leave a comment and share your ideas!

New Design: Southern Belle in Her Crinoline, with Her Poodles

Here is my latest design:  a Southern Belle in Her Crinoline with Her Poodles.
I tried to capture a couple of things:  lots of poodles (of course!), a vintage / retro / 50s kind of style, and the South.  I love all the pastels in this design.

This darling girl and her trio of poodles are stitched on blue marble Aida, and they are set off by a light grey filigree pattern around the top and side borders.

In case there's any doubt that we're in the South...you can see her arbor in the background, with the wisteria in bloom!

This design is offered as a chart in Instant PDF Download format and is available now in my Etsy shop.  I hope you like it!

Christmas Freebie Number 3 of 3

Here is my final FREE CHART for Christmas :: a Little St Nicholas, complete with a fuzzy beard!
This little guy is about 3" X 3", so he would make up great as a card, a tree ornament, or a pillow.

This design uses 14-count Navy Aida.  I seem to be using a lot of that this Christmas.  I like the idea of a night scene, but black is just a little TOO dark.  You can see that St Nicholas's beard is fuzzy, and the snow is done the same way, using Madeira Lana thread in 2 strands, and fluffed up.

St Nicholas has a red robe with a green under layer, and he is standing by a little woodland deer and a little green forest tree with berries.  He is holding his crozier, or bishop's staff.

If you would like to stitch up this little guy for your Christmas, you can get the FREE PDF DOWNLOAD HERE!

Christmas Freebie Number 2 of 3!

Here is a set of three little Christmas tree ornaments for you to stitch in time for Christmas!
Each ornament uses only 3 colors of stranded cotton, and all three ornaments use the same colors.
Stitch a star, a Victorian ornament, and a Christmas tree in red, green, and white on navy blue Aida.

I finished my ornaments off by:
(1) Backing each one with fusible interfacing;
(2) Gluing them onto a piece of red wool felt;
(3) Gluing the two layers onto a piece of natural corrugated card.

Oh, and I used a little gold glitter glue around the edge of the star.

Then, I punched a hole in the top and threaded twine through for the hanger.  Each ornament is accented with a little satin bow.

These little ornaments measure between 2" and 3" square (approx. ~ actual dimensions are given in the chart).

Happy stitching and Merry Christmas from Fearn Abbey Needleworks!

Snowball's Christmas Wreath

Is it just me, or is December flying past already?
I wanted to share with you all how I finished off Snowball's Christmas decoration:  "Let It Snowball".  I've turned him into a wreath!
It's so easy with a plain green wreath, some purchased snowflake ornaments, a dotted ribbon trim, and some green florist wire.  I will be showing you Doodle's Christmas wreath shortly!

And...coming up soon (I have to say, I've got holes in my fingertips, stitching as fast as I am!)...two more freebies for you.  Keep checking back, and I will get them posted as soon as I can ~ in plenty of time to stitch them up for Christmas.

Also, don't forget:  You can still download The McLamby Christmas Extravaganza for free, and you can find Snowball's and Doodle's red and green Christmas designs in my Etsy shop.  As well, you can still grab my December special:  4 Charts for £1.  Please be sure to visit my Etsy shop!

What's Going On This Week at Fearn Abbey Needleworks

Post-Thanksgiving Blues, to start.  Who's with me on that one?  And we don't even have "Black Friday" over here (obviously).  Sometimes it is a real pain not being able to jump in the car and go to any shop I want.  Other times, it is a blessing.  However, thank goodness for online shopping.  I get virtually (no pun intended) all my supplies that way.  I'd love to go to a needlework shop, but there are none around.

What's going on at Fearn Abbey Needleworks right now:  I'm finishing (that is, mounting for display) two Christmas designs.  I'm finishing the stitching on another freebie (I owe you TWO MORE FREEBIES).  And we're doing a lot of Christmas decorating, piece at a time.

Who's frantically stitching for Christmas?

Don't forget to stop by my Etsy shop to get your four Christmas ornament charts for only £1.  I think that's about $1.65 in American dollars.  The download is 6 pages and full-color!

Two Sheep and Two Lambs for Christmas

Dear Friends and Stitchers ~

What a kerfuffle we've been in here over the Thanksgiving weekend!  It has been a wonderful time with my dear husband, though, so I am grateful.  I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving!

I know I'm a day late, but at last, I've got your Christmas tree ornament charts up and ready for you.
Now don't laugh at my tree!  It's a whole foot and a half tall and I paid a whole pound for it!
These little ornaments are done on beige 14-count Aida, and they are backed with red wool felt.  Each one is 2.9" X 2.4", stitch count 40 X 33.  They all use the same colors.
Rosebud and Shermy have their coats stitched in white Madeira Lana thread which is then fluffed up. Rosebud is wearing a Christmas wreath and has his own little tree.
Snowball and Doodle have their coats stitched in ecru stranded cotton.
The big sheep have evergreen and berry borders.  The little lambs have candy cane borders, and Snowball is leaping and playing with a snowman.  Doodle is leaping over toy soldiers.
Shermy has pretty snowflakes over his head, and he is wearing a gold jingle bell.
You can get ALL FOUR CHARTS for only £1.  They are a fun and quick stitch for Christmas.
Click HERE to go to my Etsy shop and get your instant PDF download, which is 6 pages and contains full-color photos.  That's right, only £1 for all four charts.  I hope you like them!
